The Masters of Malaysian Cuisine (MOMC) unveiled their latest collaborative project, The Durian Cookbook, a publication aimed to broaden international interest in the King of Fruits – the Durian.
Produced in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), the book consists of 70 private and personal recipes from 8 internationally renowned chefs who make up the core MOMC team.
The MOMC chefs include Johari Edrus, Jackie M Tang, Rene Johari, Debbie Teoh, Zaleha Olpin, Dave Murugaya, Bob Adnin, and Dato Ismail Ahmad.
MOMC founder Jackie M Tang likened the MOMC band of chefs and cooks to Marvel Comics’ Avengers, in that each of them possess unique superpowered talents and skills; use technology to promote Malaysian cuisine; and protect Malaysia’s food reputation by battling those who spread false news.
“MOMC was created not just to promote Malaysian food around the world, but also, to protect Malaysia’s food reputation, from fake news, and from those who think that Rendang should be Crispy,” said Jackie.
The book was revealed at the 30th Triennial ACWW World Conference Day Trip to Multimedia University in Cyberjaya. The event was officiated by Her Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda The Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj.
